How to Make Wonderfully Crunchy Gluten Free Sesame Breadsticks (aka Grissini) That You Can’t Get Enough Of!

Gluten Free Sesame Breadsticks in jar

Grissini breadsticks are Italian style crunchy breadsticks that are perfect for charcuterie boards, appetizer plates, or just a great on the go snack! When first going gluten free, it can be hard to find anything that is good tasting with a crunch. That’s exactly why we wanted to share with you how easy it is to make gluten free sesame breadsticks with our All-Purpose Bread Mix!

Measure Your Ingredients for your Gluten Free Sesame Breadsticks

To create gluten free sesame breadsticks you will need:

Pro-Tip: If you love the taste of sesame seeds, feel free to toast them prior to adding them to the mix. The breadsticks will come out of the oven packed with even more flavor!

Follow Instructions for All Purpose Bread Mix & Let Rest

When preparing the dough for gluten free sesame breadsticks, add all the measured ingredients, except for the boiling water and sesame seeds, and mix well.

Add boiling water and mix well before adding the sesame seeds. Once the sesame seeds are added mix until the dough is smooth and even. The mix can be done by hand, in a stand mixer, or a food processor. When in doubt, mix longer it will not damage the dough.

At this point, the dough can rest in a covered bowl for four hours (for zero sugars) or if mixed in the afternoon it can rest covered (in cloth) overnight.

Roll & Cut into Strips for Gluten Free Sesame Breadsticks

Once the dough has risen it’s time to roll and cut into strips to bake into the perfect gluten free sesame breadsticks!

First, roll out the dough on a nonstick baking mat. The  dough will be approximately 16 inches by 10 inches to give you the perfect thickness.

Once rolled out, transfer your dough slab to parchment paper before you cut it. This can be achieved easily by pressing parchment down on dough and flipping it over.

Next, cut dough into strips roughly 1/4 inch wide.

Finally, remove every other breadstick for easy spacing and place those on a separate parchment lined tray to prepare for baking!

Bake & Enjoy Your Gluten Free Sesame Breadsticks!

Bake 25-30 minutes at 315 ℉ convection or 335 ℉ conventional oven.

Continue to bake them in the oven at 220 -225 ℉ degree oven/convection to dry and crisp them, until completely crisp. This could take several hours depending on the oven.

Remove from oven and let cool, then store in air tight container or bag.

Dip into any gluten free dip, wrap in prosciutto, or add to an appetizer platter!
