The first meal of the day is often referred to as the most important meal of the day, and for good reason. This is due to the fact that you have been fasting since your last meal or snack from the previous day. Even if you do not typically eat when you first wake up, the first meal you do have is still breaking the fast. What you eat for breakfast sets the tone for your entire day, and can have a significant impact on your energy levels, mental clarity, and overall health. While there are many different types of breakfast foods to choose from, research has shown that starting the day with a meal that’s high in animal sourced protein and fats, but low in carbohydrates, can be especially beneficial. The following keto breakfast sandwich recipes and stories are from one of our amazing customers who just can’t get enough of our bagels. Enjoy!
As someone who follows a keto, diabetic-friendly diet, I’m no stranger to the struggle of finding delicious and satisfying breakfast options that won’t spike my blood sugar levels or kick me out of ketosis. And let me tell you, it’s been a long and lonely road, filled with endless rounds of scrambled eggs, bacon, and avocado.
Don’t get me wrong, I love a good egg and bacon breakfast. But after months of the same old, same old, I was starting to feel like I was stuck in a breakfast rut. Every morning, I would stare into my fridge and feel uninspired, knowing that my choices were limited to a few low-carb, high-fat options. I longed for the days when I could indulge in a piece of buttered toast or a chewy bagel without feeling like I sabotaged my goals.
But then, one fateful day, I stumbled upon Fox Hill Kitchens’ low-carb, gluten free, diabetic-friendly keto bagels, and my life changed forever. Okay, maybe that’s a bit dramatic, but seriously, these bagels are a game-changer. Made with almond and coconut flour, their bagels are chock full of clean ingredients, are grain-free, low in carbs, and they taste like the real thing! (Or pretty darn close.)
Now, I wake up every morning excited to make myself a keto breakfast sandwich. I’ll toast up a bagel, add some cream cheese and smoked salmon, maybe some capers and red onion, and voila! A delicious, satisfying breakfast that doesn’t feel like I’m depriving myself of anything.
And the best part? Fox Hill Kitchens has three great bagel flavors to choose from, including everything, sesame, and “rye”with caraway and onion. So now, instead of feeling stuck with the same old breakfast every day, I can mix it up and try something new.
So, to all my fellow keto, diabetic-friendly breakfast warriors out there, I urge you to give Fox Hill Kitchens’ low-carb, diabetic-friendly keto bagels a try. You won’t regret it. And who knows, maybe they’ll inspire you to break out of your breakfast rut and try something new and exciting.
I hope you enjoy my favorite keto breakfast sandwich recipes! I have spent years tweaking and swapping ingredients and these are all the ones I go back to over and over again. Most of the following recipes all include meat, eggs, or seafood as I feel my best when I have some solid protein in my first meal of the day.
This is basically my old breakfast turned into a keto breakfast sandwich! I’ll consistently switch up the way I cook the egg, scrambled or over easy, add whatever cheese is in my fridge (though a white cheddar is always my go to) and my personal favorite, switch between flavors of bagels to keep it new and exciting!
Arugula is such a great food for our bodies, but sometimes finding where to fit it into your diet can be tricky. I have found that sausage pairs with it perfectly!
When I’m in the mood for something a little closer to lunch, I always jump to a ham and swiss!
Talking about lunch, let’s take a step back and talk about brunch. Remember to make your own mayo!
Love roast beef? Me too! This bagel sandwich feels almost like a cheat!
There is just something about bacon, avocado, and tomato that just never seems to get boring!
I usually opt for plain cream cheese as the smoked salmon and capers bring all the flavor I need, but I will say a veggie cream cheese is always wonderful as well. I will usually eat this recipes on a “rye” bagel as the flavors are just perfect!
I know I said I love all the bagels, but I ALWAYS make this one with a Sesame Bagel!
I have a hard time picking between the two roast beef bagel recipes listed here. They are both so wonderful!
If the salsa sounds weird to you, don’t kick it until you try it! You can thank me later.
The apple slices weren’t introduced until I tried something similar at a crepe shop and I was inspired to say the least!
If you love blue cheese, this is your new keto breakfast go to!
Feel free to add chives or green onions as a final topping!
A classic, but a favorite.
The cucumbers add the most incredible crunch that you didn’t know you needed!
The turkey bacon plus guacamole just hits different in the best of ways!
When I’m feeling something a little lighter, I’ll skip the eggs and meat and create this little delight!
Same mayo recipe as before, just add a couple slices of mashed avocado and voilà!
Sauté your mushrooms in grass-fed butter for best results.
Last, but not least, a classic with a bit of a twist!
I’m not going to lie, I had to stop half way through writing this list and make myself a quick keto breakfast sandwich so I would stop drooling on my keyboard. Please take these recipes as inspiration and create your own with all the incredible flavors of Fox Hill Kitchens’ bagels!
